Ceramic Coastal Toetoe Bowl - black white

$60

2 pieces in stock

This beautiful bowl is a design by well known NZ ceramic artist Jo Luping.

This ceramic bowl features a drawing of a Toetoe, one of New Zealand's native grasses. It can be found throughout our landscape but especially along the coast where it helps with sand dune erosion. It has many uses including being used medicinally, providing shelter for native species such as skinks and it is a source of food for our native birds.

Jo established her studio in Wellington in 1996 and has become renowned for her ceramics which capture New Zealand’s coastal landforms and indigenous flora and fauna. She works in a variety of media including jewellery, ceramics, glass, printmaking, textiles, photography and film.

These pieces feature irregularities in both shape and form; this is part of the organic nature of the collection.

Each piece comes boxed with an image of the design on the lid and an info card on the inside with information about Jo Luping and the artwork.
