Ruru like roosting on lower dead leaves of ponga or silver ferns, and can be found in several urban parks in New Zealand, as well as in well-vegetated suburbs.
The bone is beef bone, with sealed paua shell eyes. Hooks are hypoallergenic surgical steel.
