Ceramic Boo Crew - Boo Love Heart

Meet the Boo Crew! Handmade by Lava Ceramics, they are full of character.

The Boo Crew are all approx 6cm wide and 7cm tall but there is some variation between them. They are all hand sculpted from NZ clay and finished with a lovely glossy glaze.

Please note the clear glaze often has cracks/crazing on it, this does not affect the piece and is part of a handmade process, and the demands of a kiln fired process.

Lava Ceramics is a small pottery studio based in Lyttelton, Christchurch.

Artist statement:

I'm Cari (Caroline) Quinn and I’m the muddy hands behind Lava Ceramics.

As long as I can remember I’ve been happiest while I’m being creative. It took me until my 40’s to discover clay. Once I did, there was no going back…It began when I started sculpting my own rescue dog, then our rabbit, then I started on the dogs in the neighbourhood. Now I have created an enormous dog pack, and badgers, cats, sharks, mice, chickens, birds and so much more…..
My background is in architecture and you may see elements of that in my more practical items. My main inspiration is from nature and living creatures. In particular, their cheeky characters.
