Fly With Me Fantail Ceramic Cup
This beautiful illustrated bone china cup is from Tutukaka based creative Katy Hayward.
‘Come fly with me’ features a dancing pair of pīwaiwaka/fantail carrying banners of mānuka, swooping and spreading their beautiful wings and tail feathers, rejoicing in the bountiful supply of food. Pīwaiwaka birds are one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s fiercest hunters! And those beautiful long tail feathers help them to twist and turn very quickly during flight. Their favourites are moths, flies, spiders, wasps, beetles, and the occasional fruit.
Art work by Northland based artist, Katy Hayward. This drawing was inspired by her aroha/love for going on beautiful bush walks with her little family, and the joy of being followed by these friendly little birds who dart and chase her daughter around.
