Wheku o Maui Lamp

This beautiful lamp is a design collaboration between master carver and artist Hermann Salzmann (Ngaati Toa Rangatira) and Moana Road.

It beautifully illustrates the legend Maui-Potiki capturing the sun to extend the light of the day, and is called "Wheku o Maui" - the face of Maui.

Herman Salzmann is based in Pukerua Bay, Porirua, New Zealand. He has devoted himself to the art of whakairo/carving for the past 10 years. His work is displayed at Te Papa Marae, Porirua Court Room, NZ Police Museum, Writers Guild, Porirua City Council and Sister City Blacktown.
