David Brosnahan
Uenuku Wall Taonga #3 Karaka
We are beyond delighted to present these bright beautiful original wall art pieces by New Zealand artist David Brosnahan - Ngāti Kahungunu/Ngāti Pāhauwera.
David is inspired by colours, with particular interest with colour harmony, and by curiosity - his vibrant Uenuku is an atua of rainbows and a prominent ancestor in Māori tradition.
These pieces are called 'Uenuku' (the Rainbow atua) and has been laser cut out of a 5mm thick MDF board and painted using premium paint, and finished with a UV flat clear varnish. Each Uenuku is made up of 10-12 pieces and comes ready to hang on your wall.
Only 10 of these special taonga have been made and each is completely unique.
Height: 280mm
Width: 125mm
Artist statement:
"My work is always influenced by my surrounding environment whether in New Zealand or living overseas. I enjoy using art to connect and learn about other cultures, I see my role as an artist and also as a potential bridge builder, cultural broker and teacher. Art can be a window into which different cultures can understand and learn from one another".
