Large Pounamu Toki with Double Koru
This contemporary pendant is individually hand-carved from genuine New Zealand Pounamu (greenstone). Each piece has unique characteristics formed over millions of years, giving them their own identity, colour and character.
This large Toki pendant was handmade for HAPA by Hokitika based Poutini Pounamu (master carver Tyrone Tainui, Ngāi Tahu). The Toki shape is traditionally a carving tool and weapon - as a taonga, it represents strength, determination and courage. The koru detail represents growth, harmony and relationships - connections between people.
