Thea Ceramics
Thea Ceramics Tumbler
Thea Ceramics is a pottery studio on Waiheke Island. These pieces are designed and made by owner/operator Esther McDonald (Ngā Puhi, Ngāti Wai, Ngāti Pukenga).
All Thea pieces are thrown on the pottery wheel and made for every day use.
These tumblers are thrown on the pottery wheel and hand glazed in 3 different glazes:
- Muka is named after the fibre that come from Harakeke (flax), Muka is a beautiful cream glaze.
- Pōuriuri is a darkest green glaze, with a satin finish.
- Karamea (translates to "caramel" in Te reo Māori) but also talks to the clay banks on Waiheke Island. This glaze is a satin terracotta glaze with lovely warm, pink and peach tones.
The brutalist clay is a hard wearing clay, that has a light feel and concrete look.
Flat white tumblers around 9-10cm high and around 320ml in volume.
All Thea ceramics are hand made so sizes and colours vary, they are dishwasher safe and are intended for everyday use
These items are limited edition, and handmade in New Zealand
