HAWAIIKI PĒPI

Titama Woven Blanket Throw

$355

2 pieces in stock

This stunning throw blanket is designed by Joelle Holland for Hawaiiki Pēpi, and made from 100% recycled cotton.

Every thread of TĪTAMA holds a story, one of rising, reclaiming, and reconnection.

This design is inspired by Hinetītama, the daughter of Tāne and Hineahuone. She stands between night and day, the atua of dawn and transformation. She represents the moment many of us now find ourselves in - (the in between)

This design reflects that sacred moment of transition from darkness into light. From questioning into clarity. From silence into story.

The base colour represents the night before transition , whilst the golden yellow tones are observed from and after sunrise.

"This blanket is for those already on the waka, connected, fighting for the kaupapa and who we are, but it is also for the ones still rising. Still learning. Still healing. Still coming home. You belong here. You always have"

E mihi ana kia koutou katoa mō te tautoko, mō te whai wā ki te pānui I ēnei kōrero.

I am 27 years old, born and raised in South Auckland, a place I call home, and a place that has played a huge part in shaping who I am as a Wahine and Māmā today.

How did Hawaiiki Pēpi begin?

I am a proud Māori Wahine and I am extremely passionate about my people and my culture. Alongside this I am a Māmā to two beautiful pēpi and I absolutely blessed to have them by my side. Being Māori and being a Māmā are two of the most Important parts of my life and so the whakaaro of creating this amazing pākihi came to life.

For me knowing who you are, and where you come from play a huge role in your identity and I want nothing more for my babies than to be surrounded by their culture, to be proud of who they are and to stand strong in their Tuakiritanga.

The importance of our babies being surrounded by their ahurea and their Reo helps our babies to feel a connection to their whenua and that is exactly what this pākihi aims to do for all of your pēpi.

Through these beautiful Māori designs we aim to enhance Te Ao Māori In our pēpi right from birth.

Ngā manaakitanga, Hawaiiki Pēpi
