Tui Birdsong Necklace
This stunning silver Tui Bird necklace was made by jeweller Emma Cunningham.
Handmade from freshwater pearls, raw faceted sapphire, and lapis lazuli knotted on natural silk thread.
It features a sandcast recycled pewter tui medallion and feather made from blackened vintage silverware, which is engraved on both sides.
The Pearl and sapphire toggle clasp means you can wear long or short.
Each necklace comes with an original hand printed lino cut of the tui bird and a handwritten description on the back.
Presented in a grey drawstring bag and boxed with Emma Cunningham Jewellery tags.
Emma is a full time practicing artist, living and working in a rural valley on the outskirts of Whanganui, New Zealand.
From her Flying Dog Studio she creates contemporary artwork - sculpture, assemblage, drawings and jewellery made from vintage silverware. She has been awarded several national and regional art awards and is a regular exhibiting artist.
Emma draws inspiration from nature and is concerned with the preservation of it. She is interested in ancient mythologies and folklore, and how our past stories are interwoven with our present day. Birds and animals appear as signposts or messengers in her work.
