This Arorangi design coincides with the midwinter rising of Matariki - the cluster of stars that for many Māori heralds the start of the new year. At this time of year we honour those we have lost since the last rising of Matariki and release their spirits to become stars.

Arorangi (heavenward) acknowledges the journey of our tūpuna as they become stars in the night sky. The golden light between the dark provides direction and focus in our search for ancestral guidance. It also reminds us that our tūpuna are reflected in the whenua below.

They are the perfect statement accessory for your jacket, bag or hat.

Hard enamel metal pin packaged in clear sleeve.
Raised gold detailing.
Butterfly clutch backing.
WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD - small and sharp parts. Not for children under 3 years.

"Ko Ambrosia Crum ahau. He uri o Ngāpuhi me Ngāti Whātua. I am Ambrosia, the creative behind Waihonga. I have worked previously as an architectural designer and heritage advisor caring for Māori architectural taonga. My most rewarding venture to date though has been becoming māmā to my little boy Troy. My partner Blair and I recently purchased our first property near Ōkaihau to return home to our whānau to enjoy this precious time with our pēpi. Waihonga allows me to focus on my creative practice, connect to my Māoritanga in new ways and create a solid foundation for my whānau."
